Publication ethics  of Journal Encuentros

Publication ethics and malpractice statement of the Journal Encuentros of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at the Universidad Autonoma del Caribe of Barranquilla, Colombia, is committed to researchers to guarantee ethics and quality in their productions.

The journal responds adequately to the needs of readers and authors, ensuring the quality of what are published, protecting and respecting the content of the articles and the integrity of it.

Evaluation Process:
Encuentros operates a strictly anonymous peer review process in which the reviewer’s name is withheld from the author and, the author’s name from the reviewer. Reviewers may at their own discretion opt to reveal their name to the author in their review but our standard policy practice is for both identities to remain concealed.

Each paper is reviewed by two peer reviewers. We contemplate three possibilities before reaching the final decision:

a. Total acceptance: the two peer reviewers agree to evaluate positively (even when minor corrections are requested)
b. Partial acceptance: when at least one of the two peer reviewers rejects the paper. In this case the paper is sent to a third evaluating pair and the editor will make the final decision

c. Rejected: when both peer reviewers reject the manuscript

Once the decision is settled in the case of partial acceptance, the paper will be considered positively or negatively evaluated.

The negative evaluation (rejected) is justified in the following cases: when the proposed classification is not consistent with its content, if it has deficiencies in writing or in scientific development, if the information contained in the article is plagiarized and, if not corresponds to the thematic axes of interest of the Journal. In case of presenting what is stated in the previous paragraph, the author may appeal to the Editorial Committee, in order to have his case reviewed. If there is a contradiction between the evaluations of the two arbitrators, the intervention of a third evaluator, external to the Editorial Committee, will be used.

If the article is accepted (full acceptance) it will be returned to the author with the appropriate feedback, in such a way that correct and make the respective return of the document in a period no longer than 15 days, and once again, in printed original and via electronics. The Editorial Committee of Journal Encuentros assumes that all authors admit that the opinions or comments expressed in the articles are their responsibility. If an article is accepted for publication, printing and reproduction rights are given by any means or form to the editor, however, an author may request permission to reproduce their documents.

All manuscripts are reviewed as rapidly as possible, and an editorial decision is generally reached within 6 - 8 weeks of submission. Authors are welcome to make suggestions for relevant reviewers, confirming that there are no conflicts of interest (e.g., it would not be appropriate to nominate close colleagues, relatives, or persons with whom one has worked as supervisor/ supervisee).

Before publication Journal Encuentros requires the author as the rights holder, sign the agreement to publish Encuentros as a collaborator. Exclusive license agreement which means that the author retains copyright in the work, but grants the sole and exclusive right and license to publish for the full legal term of copyright.
