La importancia de la innovación en los procesos de relocalización empresarial: una revisión de la literatura

Diferentes fenómenos globales han llevado a que empresas en todo el mundo consideren estrategias de relocalización con el propósito de configurar cadenas de suministro más eficientes y menos susceptibles a estos eventos disruptivos. Con base en lo anterior, se han desarrollado investigaciones donde se busca determinar los factores que motivan a las empresas para tomar decisiones de relocalización, encontrándose el factor de la innovación como reiterativo en muchas de estas investigaciones, de hecho, se ha encontrado que es un factor que incide en otros factores. En este sentido, este artículo se busca reconocer la importancia que tiene la innovación en los procesos de relocalización empresarial, a través de una revisión narrativa de la literatura donde se exploran algunos antecedentes sobre las decisiones de localización, se describen las principales tendencias de relocalización desde finales del Siglo XX hasta la actualidad, y se establece la importancia de la innovación dentro de estos procesos de relocalización con base en las investigaciones de diferentes referentes teóricos. Entre los hallazgos principales de esta revisión se encontró que la innovación en los sistemas de transportes llevó a que muchas empresas tuvieran unas escalas geográficas más amplias para localizar su operación y configuraran cadenas de suministro globales; el acceso a la innovación es un factor que se suele tener en cuenta para la creación de políticas gubernamentales enfocadas en la relocalización de empresas; la innovación es un factor con un grado de transversalidad, ya que incide en otras variables que se tienen en cuenta para la relocalización.
