Resumen

Este artículo de reflexión discurre sobre la percepción contemporánea de las dos artistas, generalmente impuesta por la cultura masiva, cuestionando la persistencia de la memoria y reflexionando sobre las sendas disparejas de la memoria histórica. Frida Kahlo – pintora reconocida como una sensación internacional en el mundo del arte moderno y de las políticas radicales, cuya fama sigue creciendo, alcanzando hasta lo más alto de las producciones de Hollywood. Leni Riefenstahl – actriz y directora de películas, creadora de un género cinematográfico nuevo de propaganda documental, clásica de su propio e inigualado hasta hoy en día estilo, prácticamente impugnada del medio de la producción de películas, silenciada y olvidada. Ambas artistas han vivido en los tiempos cuando emergieron y florecieron los sistemas más crueles y genocidas en la historia de la humanidad, el comunismo soviético y el nazismo. Las dos cultivaron una posición personal hacia los sistemas y hacia los hombres que los encarnaban: Riefenstahl rechazó cualquier relación personal con los dirigentes nazis, sobre todo con Adolfo Hitler; Kahlo desarrolló una aventura amorosa con uno de los máximos ideólogos y animadores del sistema bolchevique, y líderes del estado soviético, Leo Trotsky.
