Abstract

In the Colombian Guajira, the mining of stone aggregates is advancing in an accelerated manner, which is why it is necessary to implement actions aimed at controlling negative effects. The purpose of this research is to specify what management measures are carried out to avoid environmental problems in a mine in Riohacha, Colombia. To carry out the study, an explanatory descriptive methodology was applied, as a collection instrument, field visits and the application of a form divided into 2 dimensions and 18 indicators were necessary; As a result, it was obtained that environmental problems are associated with the emission of particulate matter, environmental noise, transformation of the landscape, among other effects that degrade the conditions of the biophysical environment. It is concluded that the mining company carries out actions marked within the environmental responsibility and that the environmental measures contribute to reducing the negative impacts caused by the development of mining activities.
