Evaluación del potencial turístico de las playas del departamento del Atlántico – Colombia, desde la perspectiva ambiental

Para la evaluación del potencial turístico en las playas del departamento del Atlántico se utilizaron dos metodologías:
una que propone Reyes y Sanchez (2005) y la otra recomendada por el Ministerio de Comercio, Industria y
Turismo (2010), lo que permitió finalmente plantear un índice de potencial turístico para las playas en Colombia,
teniendo en cuenta las dos metodología utilizadas y donde se definieron tres componentes y catorce variables
para evaluar un potencial turístico desde el ámbito ambiental. La aplicación de este índice arrojó que de las 15
playas evaluadas, 2 playas obtuvieron bajo potencial turístico, 9 medio y 4 medio alto. Este índice se propone como herramienta para evaluar el potencial turístico de las playas en Colombia, con el propósito de brindar herramientas
de gestión basadas en el uso de indicadores a las administraciones públicas y privadas con referente al manejo
integrado de las playas y el desarrollo turístico del departamento.
