Abstract

This article analyzes the social construction of public space in commune 5 of Montería, through activities (social, sports, cultural, religious, among others), carried out by the community around their physical-spatial conditions and levels of satisfaction. and participation that takes place in these and determines the appropriation from the user's relationship with the place. The research was developed through an inductive method with a mixed approach, under a collection of primary information through semi-structured surveys and field observation, during 2016, and the implementation of a symbology in the spatial representation of the forms of use and appropriation that take place in this commune. In the commune, social activities predominate 38%, sports 25% and cultural activities 15%. The level of satisfaction in public space is 72%, with a participation of 82%, which determines its appropriation, despite the problems of insecurity and inappropriate and illegal use.
