Distribuciones Poisson y Gamma: Una Discreta y Continua Relación.

Abstract

En el presente artículo se indica la relación que existe entre la distribución de Poisson y la distribución Gamma,
de una manera concisa y elemental. Se inicia revisando los aspectos y/o propiedades básicas de cada distribución.
Esto incluye las respectivas demostraciones de función de probabilidad y función de densidad, además de las pertinentes
fórmulas de esperanza y varianza, junto con las demostraciones de cada una de éstas. Se exhiben algunas
propiedades a tener en cuenta para cada distribución, y posteriormente se presenta la relación existente entre estas
últimas. Se proponen también, algunos ejemplos que ilustren el empleo de cada distribución y su mencionada
relación.
