Diferentes factores afectan los monumentos y objetos que constituyen la herencia cultural de las regiones, entre
las causas más comunes se encuentran los efectos ambientales, la exposición prolongada a luz, hongos entre
otras. Su conservación es deseable desde la perspectiva de la importancia cultural, por lo anterior, es interesante
explorar técnicas basadas en tecnología como un esfuerzo de conservación. Se describe un caso de aplicación de
reconstrucción tridimensional de piezas arqueológicas mediante tecnología de adquisición basada en luz estructurada.
Se presenta el proceso completo que incluye la adquisición de datos, el preprocesamiento, el registro, la
corrección de anomalías y la visualización. Las etapas anteriores fueron realizadas mediante software libre con lo
que se provee una solución efectiva en costos y precisión. El montaje descrito permite reproducir modelos tridimensionales
con precisión sin la necesidad de software o hardware especializados.
