El comportamiento reológico de suspensiones minerales es un factor muy importante en el control de calidad, fases de preparación, empaque y almacenamiento de sus productos. El presente estudio se basa en el efecto de variables inherentes al procesamiento de suspensiones de caolín sobre la viscosidad, haciendo uso de un diseño de experimentos factorial 2k. Concretamente, fueron evaluados el contenido de sólidos (Cv), la distribución de tamaño de partícula (DTP) y la naturaleza ácida de la suspensión, sea que se trabaje con pH natural (ácido) o se neutralice agregando hidróxido de sodio (NaOH). Además, el modelo matemático codificado para los niveles evaluados a partir del análisis estadístico se ajustó de manera adecuada a las pruebas de validación realizadas posteriormente, pues arrojó un porcentaje de error menor al 17% en todos los casos analizados.
