Currently, technological advances in telecommunications have managed to connect humanity; thus, the tool called Wikipedia (from now on Wiki) has allowed communication between people regardless of distance or location, making it a very useful tool for collaborative work. This paper describes the results of the implementation of a didactic strategy, mediated by Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to strengthen reading and writing skills in students of specific subjects of the Systems Engineering program at the Universidad de la Costa. The problem is approached from the qualitative approach, seeking the description of the phenomenon through the characterization of the population, which corresponds to 75 students of the subjects Networks I, Networks II, Traffic Analysis, and Advanced Linux Administration, which correspond to the specific professional training area.
The diagnosis made through an evaluation of previous knowledge allowed establishing that 75 students present "Basic or Low" performance, in terms of reading and writing skills. The development of the research was focused on two elements of competence (Comprehensive Reading and Writing) and writing and reading activities were carried out through the Wiki tool of the Moodle platform; of the 70 students, 82.9% (58 students) of the target group showed improvement in the performance of reading and writing competencies, going from "Basic or Low" to "High" and "Superior" levels. Additionally, it was evidenced that students show greater motivation, interest, and concentration in activities in the area.
